McEvilly was a treat all afternoon
Stanley started the game well and were by far the better team but it was Aldershot who had the first real chance in the 8th minute but Carl Ikeme, making his debut after signing on loan from Wolves saved well to his right.

McEvilly, on form once again, had a good chance for Stanley minute's later but his effort was blocked and the ball was cleared by the Shots and Ikeme had to be brave as he came rushing out of his goal to slide the ball away from an onrushing attacker but he was left grounded and needed the physio to come onto the field and give him treatment but he was fit enough to continue.

The Reds were still on top, though and this prompted Shots manager to change his formation which did the home team well as they started to gain a bit more possession.

Paul Mullin had a great chance to open the scoring after Lee McEvilly's shot was parried by Nikki Bull, the Aldershot ‘keeper, but he recovered well to make an outstanding save to keep the scores level.

Stanley had a strong appeal for a penalty during first half injury time when McEvilly went down but the referee waved play on.

The second half saw Aldershot start to show just why they are so high in the table but it was Steve Jagielka who had the first shot of the half but Bull, who was in great form, tipped his effort round the post for a corner.

Ikeme had to be brave once again as he stopped McLean skipping past him to score an open net. Aldershot had another good chance as Crittenden was denied a header at the far post.

Former Wales international Darren Barnard saw his great 30 yarder fly just over the Stanley crossbar, the same destination as headers from Brannan and McEvilly as both teams introduced attack-minded substitutes in an attempt to snatch a winner, with Lutel James coming on for the visitors.

Adam Miller could have won it for Aldershot but his great 20 yard shot beat Ikeme just to come flying back out off the post.
