Boxing Day has always been a traditional day in football. Crouds are usually boosted on this special day and clubs are always looking to have a home fixture on the 26th of December.

Stanley this year were given one and also Burnley were handed an away fixture at Crewe and so a few Turf Moor regulars could turn up at the Interlink Express to boost the attendence.

Burnley's match was called off and so Stanley were praying that their match would still be on and so even more fans of Burnley would turn up to cheer on the Reds.

On the moring of Boxing Day Accrington officials appealed for fans to come to the gorund and help to clear the snow off the pitch and they worked tirlessly, even the managment team were helping out!

All this work, though, was to no avail as the referee arrived at the ground and declaired that the pitch and icy terraces were unfit for the match to go ahead and the fixture will be re-arranged for a further date.
