When Wolves visited the Interlink Express Stadium during pre-season, young goalkeeper Carl Ikeme was named amongst the visiting substitutes. Ikeme is now back at the IES, this time on a months loan.
Stanley's first choice ‘keeper Jon Kennedy was recently ruled out for four and a half months and that left John Coleman with just one goalkeeper in his squad, Danny Alcock. Alcock made an impressive debut on Monday in Stanley's 2-1 win over Hereford United and he will be hoping to prevent Ikeme from making his first ever first team appearances.
Ikeme was named as a substitute eight time last season, the first being against Burnley in the cup. He was an unused sub in seven Premier League games last season following an injury to Matt Murray.
Ikeme's first team chances were shortened with the signing of Paul Jones from Southampton and now that Matt Murray has completely recovered he is fourth in the goalkeeping pecking order at Molineux although he has recently signed a new four year contract at the club.
Ikeme has joined the Reds for a month and will be hoping to impress John Coleman this week in training to try to make John Coleman pick him in the starting lineup.
Meanwhile, Rory Prendergast will be out for three to four month's following an operation, Ged Brannan has broke his writs and Andy Proctor is on his way back to fitness after playing for the reserves.
GOOD LUCK CARL!
