Peter Cavanagh, the Accrington Stanley captain, has been virtually ever-present since signing for the Reds in August 2001.
Manager John Coleman named ‘Cav' captain and it made him the club's youngest ever and he has fulfilled his role superbly in his two years at the club.
Peter is a right back but enjoys nothing more than joining in with the attack and whipping in some great crosses from the right hand side although it wouldn't seem that way looking at the statistics, ‘Cav' has only scored three goals in his entire career.
Cavanagh started his career at Liverpool, the club which he joined as a schoolboy at the age of ten, and in his years at Anfield he impressed but, despite failing to make any first team appearances, he made several reserve appearances but in 1999 he was released following a horrific injury and John Coleman snapped him up.
Peter has impressed so much at Stanley that he went on to gain international recognition last season as he became a regular in the England National Game Eleven side.
In his Stanley career Pete has made 55 appearances, all but one of which he started in. He has scored three goals and picked up 14 yellow cards and three reds. Last season his discipline was an issue but this season he has picked up just one caution.
