The last time we payed a visit to Morcambe we lost the Lancashire Marsden Cup but this was much more important with league points up for graps.

The opener for Stanley came after just 8 minutes when summer signing from Altrincham Ian Craney powered a magnificent goal past the home 'keeper to send the traveling fans wild.

On 33 minutes Robbie Williams doubled the lead with a powerful header after Steve Jagielka, another summer recruit, crossed a suberb ball into the area.

Home captain Jim Bently headed home Kieron Walmsley's cross but the final score saw Accrington Stanley desevedly take the 3 points home.
