After the recent poor form from Accrington Stanley the fans of the club were hoping that the Reds could get back to winning ways against Exeter City.
The opening stages of the first half were pretty even and both sides had some good chances but the best came on twelve minutes when Lee McEvilly saw his effort rebound off the post and into the grateful hands of the visiting goalkeeper.
Exeter were also agonisingly close to hitting the opener when Ikeme somehow failed to catch a high ball into the area but he was eventually saved from complete embarrassment when the goal-bound ball was cleared off the line by Lee McEvilly.
Ikeme had a good save down to his right after Devine hit a low, hard shot for the visitors and they continued to pile the pressure on the Reds goal towards the end of the half and forced two successive corners in the dying minutes but the first half on a whole the two teams were evenly matched.
The second half started just as the second half ended, with Exeter the stronger team by a whisker but Stanley had a good chance to go one-nil up a few minutes in when Lee McEvilly did well to volley the ball but unfortunately it went flying just over then bar after a good Ged Brannan cross found the former Rochdale man.
Lutel James was given the chance to shine for Stanley but the playing surface was very poor and at this point Exeter seemed to be playing for a point rather than three but they nearly snatched it in injury time but the visiters shot curled just wide.
