PRENDRGAST: Back
The left sided midfielder has been out of first team action for six weeks after going under the knife earlier in the season in an attempt to cure his double hernia problem.

The 25 year old has now admitted that he was pleased to be playing football once again.

“It's good to be back.”

Prendergast appeared as a late substitute in the weekend game with Canvey Island and, after being out of action of such a long time he admitted that even the 15 minutes the he played took their toll.

“I'm a bit rusty yet and it still aches a bit. The tissue under the wound is still a bit tender, but it's getting better all the time.”

He has now set himself a target of two weeks to get himself back to full fitness and ready to push for a start.

“Hopefully in a maybe a week or two I'll be back to my full potential and perhaps ready to start.”

He had a great campaign last season and he is hoping to regain that great form as soon as possible.

“My new years resolution is to get back to how I was playing last season.”

He then took the opportunity to thank the Stanley fans for their fantastic support.

“The reception that I got on Saturday off the fans was fantastic. I'd like to thank them because I've had a lot of support and they've really helped me get through this operation.”
