Jordan Clark the hero as Accrington beat Bradford
Jordan Clark scored the winning penalty as Stanley beat League One Bradford City 11-10 on penalties..
Neither side could break the deadlock in normal time and extra time despite Stanley being down to 10 men following the sending off of goalkeeper Elliot Parish on 74 minutes.
But despite Bradford hitting the woodwork twice and Stanley missing a penalty in extra time, it was the League Two side who were celebrating.
Bradford dominated the first half with winger Jody Hiwula forcing a superb one-handed save out of Parish on 20 minutes.
Bantams midfielder Nicky Law fired high with the goal at his mercy on 32 minutes while James Hanson had a close range strike blocked as the League One side bossed proceedings.
Stanley winger Clark was inches off scoring the opener for Stanley on the hour but he hooked the ball inches over the crossbar while Parish was then the Reds saviour, collecting a Hanson header, stopping sub Filipe Morais and also palming away Law's fierce strike.
However it turned sour for Parish on 74 minutes when he was shown a red card for charging out of his area and bringing down Morais.
Bradford piled on the pressure in the final 10 minutes with sub Mark Marshall hitting the post, Marshall forced a superb save out of sub keeper Aaron Chapman and he skied a great chance as the game went into extra-time.
Stanley won a penalty in the fourth minute of extra-time when Romain Vincelot bundled over Mark Hughes but keeper Colin Doyle dived low to deny John O'Sullivan.
Bradford hit the woodwork through Vincelot in the second half of extra-time as the Stanley goal led a charmed life but they held on for penalties and celebrated a second-round spot as Clark scored after Reece Webb-Foster's miss.
