He got the ball and weaved his way past the Pools defence to find the top corner of the net for his first league goal of the campaign.Hartlepool equalised when a Ryan Brobbel free-kick from the left after 42 minutes found the head of Matthew Bates who flicked the ball home.However, the Reds were back in front before the half-time whistle when Rob Atkinson headed home John O'Sullivan's corner.Substitute Matt Crooks skied a gilt-edge chance for Pools when one-on-one with goalkeeper Jesse Joronen and McCartan sealed the victory 12 minutes from time, when he tapped the ball over the line in a goalmouth scramble.The only disappointment of the evening for Stanley was an attendance of just 947
