The first real chance for the Reds, playing in their changed strip of blue, involved Mullin, McEvilly and Craney and it was Craney's cross which was headed goalbound and was only kept out by a great save from the home keeper and the follow-up was volleying straight at the goalkeeper by top scorer Paul Mullin before the ball was finally cleared.
A few minutes mater and the ball was carelessly given away by a Forest Green midfielder and Craney broke on the attack for Stanley but he selfishly tried a spectacluar long range effort but it was never going to test the goalkeeper and it rolled wide.
Once again the ball was given away by Forest Green, this time Griffin was the culprit as his attempted pass back to the defence was cut out by Lee McEvilly and Flitcroft hit a fierce shot which did not deserve to hit the crossbar and go behind for a goal kick.
Flitcroft once again hit the woodwork, this time it was the post that denied the 23 year old midfielder as his in swinging free-kick eluded everybody and Robbie Williams headed the rebound towards the goal and there are claims that the ball crossed the line but the referee waved play on with the score remaining 0-0.
The goal was to come for Forest Green after a rare attack for the Conference strugglers and it was a great move that saw Mark Beesley head home after Griffin headed Little's cross back across the face of goal.
Crichton's free-kick from the halfway line saw Jagielka have two attempts at goal before Peter Cavanagh's cross was cleared by the defence.
Cavanagh was again involved as his cross was met by a Stanley player and the goalkeeper pulled off the save of the match to keep his clean sheet.
The final score remained 1-0 thought but Stanley deserved more from a game that the dominated from start to finish.
