Embargo not a problem for ONeill

By PA
Friday, 16th July 2010
Embargo not a problem for ONeill.

Incoming Accrington chairman Dave O'Neill is confident the club's transfer embargo will be lifted before the start of the 2010/11 npower League Two campaign. Stanley are currently under another transfer embargo after filing their 2009 financial accounts late. Under new Football League rules - which the club voted in favour of - transfer restraints were placed on the League Two side. This means that although Stanley can still sign players, they cannot register them to play for the upcoming campaign. But O'Neill, who will officially takeover as chairman when Ilyas Khan's resignation is ratified next month, told the club's official website: "The current embargo we've got is because the accounts weren't submitted for 08/09. "We're looking to have draft accounts presented to us on Tuesday from our accountants, obviously then we've got to go to Companies House and arrange for verification with the Football League. It will certainly be lifted before the beginning of the season." Elsewhere, defender Dean Winnard has spoken of his delight after signing a new contract with the club, adding: "I'm really happy. I enjoyed the season last year so I'm hoping for similar this year."
